Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. This will be my first half marathon. I'm not a natural runner and don't particularly enjoy it. I've chosen it as a challenge and raise money in memory of my mum.

£500 could pay for a bed for a day of inpatient care for a hospice patient. So this is the target I'm aiming for. The work and care Sue Ryder provide is just fantastic, and it's all free for those in need. My mum spent time at Leckhampton in 2003 when she was suffering alot with secondary cancer. They helped her with her pain and worries. Then they helped her come home before Christmas so we could spend it together as a family. Sadly my mum passed away on 8 January 2004. My mum really appreciated the care she had at Sue Ryder and so I want to give back to this great charity.

In the past I've done 5k and 10k a while ago. So now I'm training and will be part of the Sue Ryder Run Club from May onwards to help me achieve this mammoth distance!

I'll be thinking of my mum and others who have passed whilst tackling the 13.1 miles of the half marathon!

PLEASE SPONSOR ME!

10 miles run today! ✔️ Can’t believe I did it! Dragging my legs around and knees stated to ache! Definitely not a natural runner. Not far from 13.1 now though!! Eek!

Thanks to all my supporters for helping me reach £500! This could pay for a bed for a day of inpatient care for a patient. I can't remember how long my mum spent at Sue Ryder but the care she received was free and 1 day is a start to giving back for the time she spent and the relief she felt. I've now moved the goal post to £750 as I believe with 2 more months to go I can keep the fundraising going. Thanks again!

Took part in Gloucester Race for Life 10k on Sunday 10 June! Did it in 70 minutes. A great cause and event. Yesterday (12 June) would have been my mum’s birthday 🎂 I miss her - doing things, the advice, the unconditional love and will miss her at my wedding in October. Xxx

A few days after I did my long 6 mile run my right knee started to feel funny. So rested up and got myself some new trainers. Did the running machine analysis and turns out I was going over on my right foot. Been for a few short steady runs since. Halting my progress - boo!

After falling down with flu/cold at Easter I’m back on it. 🏃‍♀️ As most people are, I’m feeling inspired by the London Marathon runners. Going to do a long run today - not quite Marathon distance but I’ll do my best. 10k by 30 May in time to start the SR Half Marathon Run Club!

Happy Easter! Well I’m so excited to see so many donations - massive THANK YOU! It’s certainly spurred me on! I ran 5 miles the other day - close to my target of 10k by the end of May. Some days I feel strong - others not so - today I have a cold and cough 🤧 so taking it easy.
